Network Connection

I havea new computer with XP Pro SP2. I cannot get this computer to connect
to my office newtork. I have renamed the computer so that it matches the
computer it has replaced on the server. The user name matches on the server.
Whe n I change the domain in system this is the error message:

A domain controller for the domain XXX could not be contacted.

Ensure the domain name is type correctly.

The domain is typed correctly. I have verified with other computers in the
office and the server. I am able to ping the server from the machine as well
as connect to the internet.

Please HELP!
