I was reinstalling XP PRO and it had an error during the setup and couldn't
finish. Now when I try to load windows I get the error message:'windows could
not start because windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt'
when i try to use the 'r' command at the setup screen to repair, nothing
happens and i get this message:'setup could not locate the windows
installation you want to upgrade. Contact your system administrator. What
should I do???

Hi

If you have a Retail XP Pro CD, please see if the following article helps:

"How to Recover from a Corrupted Registry That Prevents Windows XP from
Starting"

I've read this article before....this problem is that when i attempt to use
the 'r' command to initialize the repair console, it doesn't work. It doesn't
take me to this step so I am not able to use the repair feature
