I have a new Dell Dimension 4600, which was supplied with
XP Home. I have tried to upgrade this to XP Pro, out of
the box from Dell.
The XP Pro install failed with a Stop 0x000000C2 Error
Bad_Pool_Caller blue screen. The system now only boots
back to resuming the XP Pro setup, which fails each time.
I do not have a floppy drive in the machine and I have
tried to boot to both the XP Pro and the XP Home CDs, but
each time the machine just resumes the XP Pro setup. The
XP Pro CD is a volumne licensing edition from my MSDN
subscription, the XP home is the re-installation CD from
Dell. If I disable my hard disk from the boot sequence in
the BIOS and just boot to CD I get no boot device found.
I cannot get to Safe mode or a command prompt. I have not
tried boot floppies as I only have a CD Rom drive.
Does anybody have aay ideas, even just a command prompt
would help so I can FDisk and start again. Or a way to
get to the XP recovery console without a floppy drive.
Thanks
Justin
