Derek

I've just received my new full version of XP PRO in the
mail - I had to download all 6 boot disks from the
interent, and now I'm sitting at the blue screen for XP
Pro set up and my computer is asking me to insert the CD
labeled XP PRO CDROM - I recieved three disks in the mail,
one of which is PUBLISHER but when I insert either of the
other two disks, it comes back to this screen. What's the
problem here? why are neither of the other two disks the
right disk to contiue my set up??? any help would be
appreciated.

Publisher is a part of Office, not Windows. What do your other two CDs say
on them?

any markings on the which would tell me "disk 1 or disk 2"
but one says "media content"

Thanks for the quick response

Okay... we need to back up a bit here. The set of six floppy disks that you
mention is for installing the Windows XP operating system. They are not
necessary for installing Office XP.

Office XP is a collection of MS Office Programs that can run on several
different versions of Windows including Windows XP (too many things
named XP can be so confusing!). To install these programs, you would
boot to your existing operating system and then run the Office CDs from
within Windows.

As for how to distinguish the other two CDs from each other, you may just
have to use trial and error to get the install rolling: try one first and then
the other. Or use Windows Explorer to locate "setup.exe" files or text files
on the CDs that describe the contents more fully.

But before doing that, look very closely for any additional text on the
actual CDs. For example, one may say "Installation" and the other will say
"Additional Media" (clipart, sound files, etc).

If you need further assistance installing Office XP, there are Office
newsgroups available at this site:

Office XP Pro is NOT Windows XP Pro. The Windows XP CD is bootable and
can then install the OS on your system, Office XP is not bootable and is NoT
an operating system.

Mike.
