XP Pro Firewall Error

Help, I can't activate the firewall in Windows XP. I
check the firewall box and click OK then The
message "Cannot Enable Shared Access Error 1068 The
Dependency or Group Failed to Start" pops up everytime.
Can any body help me?

I will mail $20 to the first person to come up with a
solution.

Thanks,

Dwight

Thanks HUgo for your thoughtful insight into this problem.

I just solve my own problem. Apparently the worm had set
up shop in some services that were critical to the proper
set-up of Windows XP built in firewall. One of the
services "Application Layer Gateway Service" was set to
log on as "NT Authority\local service" When I changed
this to log on as "local system account" I was able to
restart the firewall without error messages.

I haven't seen any documentation about the worm messing
with these services. Perhaps it should be investigated.

Thanks to all who were frantically vying for the $20.

Regards,

Dwight
