XP Pro Error - Laptop is restarting itself

I have three HP Presario 2100 laptops running XP PRo.
They are all getting an error numerous time each day
stating that "Windows must now restart. The remote
procedure call service (RPC) terminated unexpectedly."
Then the system restarts itself. This is happening on
all of the machines and I can't find a reference for this
in knowledge base. Can any one tell me if they have
experienced this before or how I may correct the
problem? I know its not a virus as this began happening
before any of the machines were setup with web access.

Most likely the Blaster virus/worm. You say they had no web access, but if they were networked with other computers that is a common way for this virus to spread. Any current Anti-Virus program should be able to clear this up, but you need to download and install the patch from Windows Update site to prevent immediate re-infection.
