imaged 5 new Dells (GX620 P4 3.2 2 gigs ram) with a ghost image (Disk
from image). The 6 computers I imaged two weeks ago all work fine.
These however Boot fine into the first partition, but the second
partition you enter user name and password and as soon as the login
music stops the log off music starts and sends you back to login
screen. It does not reboot just logs off. In the past when loading this
image partition one is C: two is E: and the dvd is D:. With these one
is C: two is D: and the dvd is E:. The only difference between these 5
and all the ones in the past is the hard drive. they used to come with
80 gig Seagate Baracuda Sata drives the new ones have 80 gig samsung
hd080hj/p Sata drives.

Both partitions are windows xp pro the only differance between the two
is partition one has autoCAD 2006 and partition two is autoCAD 2002.

I have tried replacing the userinit.exe
I have tried changing the drive letters.
Tried setting partition 2 active no boot option logged on then off.

The problem may be an incorrect system drive letter for the second
partition. Start Windows XP in the first partition and then open the
registry (Start > Run > regedit.exe)

Now Highlight "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and select "Load Hive" from the "File"
menu.

Navigate and select the SYSTEM hive from:

[SecondPartition:\windows\system32\config"

Name the Hive "SecondPartition".

Now navigate to;

[HKLM\SecondPartition\MountedDevices]

and delete all values that look like this:

\DosDevices\C
\DosDevices\D
\DosDevices\E
and so on

When finished, make sure you Unload the hive from the registry registry.
Highlight [HKLM\SecondPartition], the select "Unload hive" from the "File"
menu.

Reboot and see if you can log into Windows XP on the second partition.
