XP Pro drivers

I have a sony Mavica dig camera, i can download pictures on my laptop that is
using XP home, but not on tower that is using XP Pro. The camera seems to
start connecting and is given a drive letter, however if I select that drive
I get the message "G:\ is not accessible -- incorect function". When the
camera is connected both XP Pro and XP home list 6 commonn drivers. XP Home
but not XP Pro, list dvmcdb.sys, pwd_2k.sys. XP pro but not XP home lists
InCDPass.sys and InCDRm.sys. Should I copy the drivers used by XP Home over
to the XP Pro?? Or is there a setting in XP Pro I need to change?? The
install software for the dig camera is incompatable with XP so the downloaded
drivers came from microsoft.

I tried that, no luck, problem seems to be with the differences between XP
Home and XP Professional versions.

There's no difference between pro & home, that will affect your camera.

The different drivers you mention or hardware drivers. eg Ahead Nero & Roxio

Usually with usb connected devices, such as a camera or printer there is a
specific method of setting / installing them failure to follow the
manufacturers directions usually leads to a failed install

Thanks for replying. I did not mentioned that the digital camera writes once
to a 3" cd (156mg). If I finalize the CD and place it in the CD drive is
reads ok. However if I try to read the cd in the camera before the cd is
filled and finalized, is when the problem occurs. With the laptop it
recognizes the cd in the camera as a new drive and reads and downloads the
files. With my tower it assigns it a drive letter. but doesn't list any files
or directories. When I try to open the drive, it gives the error message.
The laptop has Roxio installed and the tower Nero. The tower is new, however
the old tower with XP Pro had the same problem and it had roxio installed.
Sony does not have a driver download for XP Home Or XP Pro, It also insists
that the original installation cd be run (OS 98 ) before installing the
downloaded drivers. I tried that once, and got the message that it will cause
system failure, i ignored that message assuming Sony knew better. I will not
do that again!! I can work around the problem by networking the laptop and
tower, copying the files to the laptop, then copy them to the tower where I
have space to work. Its not elegant.
