My Computer freezes up when I attach my camera or flash drive

Not sure if this is a Home vs Pro issue, this doesnt happen when I boot my
computer w/ my older drive that has Pro... Whenever I attach my camera or my
flash drive, "My Computer" freezes up. I get the message/hear the chime that
new software has been added, but its like its working indefinitely to find
it. The moment I turn off my camera, the drive appears briefly and then
disappears, and then "My Computer" is no longer frozen. The flash drive icon
appears maybe a minute or 2 after I connect it (which is a pretty long wait),
but not the camera.

Ive downloaded all necessary plug ins/updates from my camera... and it works
fine on other computers (as well as on my computer, when I boot w/ my old
hard drive w/ XP). Im wondering if Im missing a crucial file on my XP Home
hard drive since the computer and the camera are working fine otherwise.

Any clue?
