XP Pro Boot Up

My XP Pro is and upgrade from 98 second edition. Upgraded
about two weeks ago. Have been having some random problems
with AOL DSL coneection but everything else has been
working fine.
Now today when it trys to boot up,right as it should be
going into floppy detection,CD rom detection etc, instead
of continuing the boot up process it takes me to the black
Win 98 Startup Screen with the options for Startup, Safe
Mode etc.
It has an error message that says" Windows has detected a
registry configuration error, choose " Command Prompt Only
" (choice #5), and Run SCANREG. It gives me a c prompt at
the bottom. I type in SCANREG and get more error messages.
" File is Missing or Corrupted C:\Windows\Himen.sys
File is Missing or Corrupted C:\Windows\DBLBuff.Sys
File is Missing or Corrupted C:\Windows\IFSHLP.Sys "
I'm thinking I have major problems!
So why am I getting a Win 98 screen when I am running XP Pro
I went into CMOS and set it to read the CD ROM first so I
could try to use my WIN XP CD but it won't. No matter what
I do it just keeps taking me to this Win 98 startup screen,
and keeps giving me the same error messages.
HELP!

At at
DOS prompt type fdisk /mbr

This should eliminate the master boot loader for other
operating sytems.
