Ive been given a PC by a friend that is running XP PRO its a P3 512mb RAM.
While the computer is turned off, it automatically turns itself on, if you
again turn it off, it will start again in about 30mins. Each time it starts
like this i also get an error message saying A: Drive Error press F1 to
continue.

Could anyone please help with this?

Thanks
Tim

Take the floppy out of the drive. Disable wake on LAN in your BIOS.

Tim,

This has to do with your CMOS settings. You'll need to consule the
Motherboard manual's "BIOS" section to turn off the "Resume" feature. This
may be something like "Resume ON Time" or "PME Wakeup events" or simlar
options depending upon the Motherboard Make and Model. Having said that,
this is not a Windows XP issue at all.
