XP Password fails after Hibernate

I have a dual boot XP Pro system and following installation of
critical updates KB828035, KB825119, KB823182 and KB824141 my valid
password entry is rejected when coming out of hibernation. It was okay
prior to updating!
A reboot and the password is accepted.
This occurs on both boots so it must be associated with the updates.
Any ideas please.

I get the same thing. You're not alone even though nobody replied. I have
to reenter the user name if I've hibernated, though only about half of the
time.

Thanks for response. At least I know there are at least two of us.
My problem is all of the time. Do you have a Dual boot setup?
Pete

No dual boot. I imagine is has more to do with hibernation. Returning from
hibernate after making hardware changes (like removing a network card from a
laptop), or trying to perform operations like briefcase sync over a network
following hibernate somehow also get screwed up.

At logon, I find I have to reenter the username before it will accept a
password, even though the username was already correct. Do you get this or
do you just reenter the password?

I have the same problems on a dual boot system (Windows XP
Pro/Red Hat 9) on a Compaq Presario laptop.

I don't make any hardware changes while the system is
down, so it doesn't seem to be that. It never seems to
happen on the first hibernate after a reboot, but on the
second or third one.

I found a link on support.microsoft.com that pointed
toward Nero CD burning software being the culprit. I've
uninstalled the software, but haven't had time to test it
out yet...

The problem on my system was due to Nero CD burning
software. I found a post on Technet describing a similar
problem. Once I removed the software I stopped having
trouble with passwords not working when resuming from
hibernate.
