XP - Page File

P

Prabhat

Hi All,

My System is AMD Athelon 2500+, 256 MB 333 MHZ DDR, 80 GB 7200 RPM HDD.

What is the Best SIZE of the the Page file that I can Set for the System? (I
think that is Max 2.5 time of the Physical Memory)
And what are the Different ways of Setting the Page file - So that My system
will be Optimum.

Thanks
Prabhat

If you've got XP Pro with SP2 leave it alone. Windows does a pretty good
job of managing the pagefile. The best thing you could do is put the
pagefile on a second hard drive.

That is good, but probably only second best.

Best situation is to have sufficient RAM so as to eliminate any need
to actually move active memory content from RAM to the page file so as
to allow that RAM to be used for other, currently more important
tasks.
