Hi,

I think that I have 2 installs of xp or a corrupt install
I have been told to reformat my hard drive
However when I log on as administrator the format
option isn't available in the disk management tool.

You have to boot from the XP CD, it has all the tools for formatting.

Here is a site with detailed instructions for a clean install of XP
http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

Good luck

You cannot format a drive that is being used. Tell us more about the dual

Simple solution, boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter key for password,at cm
screen type:DiskPart All volumes will be displayed, highlite a volume, select delete
Delete extra copy of xp if it exist, youll know because to enter recovery it'll ask yo
which one to use.When thru,type:EXIT
