XP NUMLOCK ON START UP

I set the BIOS in a new DELL 5400 to NUMLOCK on at
startup.
The LED stays lit until POST is complete then goes dark
as XP starts. I have to hit the NUMLOCK key to make the
10-key work... What's up with this?

when you say xp starts do you mean when it goes to desktop or just before it
loads

try waiting till your at your desktop and see if the light has come on by
then before hitting the key yourself after rebooting

Personally I would just hit the key but if you want XP to do it for you

Hi,

Go to: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Keyboard\
InitialKeyboardIndicators

0 = numberlock off
2 = numberlock on

If you want the numlock on at the welcome screen you also need to change:

HKEY USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\
InitialKeyboardIndicators same number values as above.

Or...

Set Numlock State On or Off at Startup (Line 4)
