xp not taking windows updates

I have a legal copy on my machine and the corresponding progs installed
I need the updates for.

I have gone to updates.microsoft and it says I need these updates.

I also played with my settings from notify to automatic on my updates
settings.

It has been about 12 times now it says I need the updates, it gets
done, and says they could not be uninstalled.

I even surfed the web and got copies from majorgeeks,etc.etc. of the
actual updates, which I try to install and then the updates say they
cannot be installed.

Thier is a hotfix for updating,kb922582 Thiers also,kb885894 Also,try
1st,open
help/support from start,type:Windows update catalog In results,select,how to
update from catalog,in this page,a direct link exists to open it,once opened,
select in L.side "see also" windows update,select,run update.Also,you might
run microsoft update,it replaces windows update..
