Can any one recommend a really good book (or a web site) that would explain
XP and TCP/IP network for real Dumkopfs like yours truly? Something written
simpler than "For Dummies..." but in more depth than an TCP/IP certification
would be? I just need to understand this stuff from 10,000 meters down to
nanometers, getting it piecemeal, while appreciated, is not working well
enough for me.

Kurt,

I've found the following websites helpful.
http://www.cablesense.com/
http://www.homenethelp.com/
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/
http://www.wown.com/

And when you have a need for more detailed information (maybe related to your
specific problem), if you post a description of your network, and describe the
symptoms of your problem, someone here should be able to help.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
