Hi
I have several Modern computers running on a XP Pro small business Network.
However one (AMD 2000+) keeps flipping out of the network. It has a unique name
and the correct workgroup name. Sometimes it recognises the network but mostly
it's on its own. I have tried redoing the network set-up wizard but ended up
with multiple connections. Is the best thing to get rid of these and start from
afresh? Or is there something else I can do?

Chris

The Hardware is OK and the taskbar icon says the Local area connection is
established.

How do you know the hardware is OK? Did you do a NIC diagnostic? The
taskbar icon isn't that good an indication the NIC is working
correctly. What NIC are you using? If all the settings are correct and
identical to the other boxen, then try swapping out the NIC for a
different one. Also, don't neglect to change out the cable - sometimes
a simple thing like a bad length of cat5e can mess you up.

Thanks
For the info, What is NIC?

Chris

Network Interface Card. If you didn't know what a NIC is, then you
didn't do any diagnostics or really know how to tell if hardware is
working. I don't mean that in an offensive way, but it's the truth.
Call a local computer person to come over and fix your computer.
