XP Network Problem !

Hey there, my Win XP networked worked just fine till recently. But now, for some reason, the two computers no longer have access to the other computer's folders (even though their both fully shared)
When I try, I get this message:

\\blabla\c is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found

And the weird thing is that the shared internet connection works just fine.
So what I tried to do is to "set up a home or small office network" like I always do.
So I went to the other computer and set up a network, but when I try to do the same in my pc nothing happens, I press the "set up a home or small office network" and nothing happens...
So I created a network setup disk in the other pc, and still, when I run it in this one, nothing happens!
So... i thought maybe i should reinstall some windows components from the windows cd or something... but i have no idea what....

nothing can explain why when pressing the "set up a home or small office network" nothing happens...

I'd really appreciate all the help I could get, thanx ya all for reading this far!

Is file sharing enabled? Is simple file sharing ticked?
Are you using a firewall besides XP's builtin firewall?

It'll be one of these that haven't been set.

file sharing is enabled, i don't know whats "simple file sharing".....
and i've disabled my other firewall...

but even if it were a firewall problem or even if the file sharing was disabled.
it doesn't explain why when pressing the "set up a home or small office

You DONT have to use the Network Wizard
IMO its hopeless. All you have to do is enable
file/printer sharing and on the 98 one point it to
192.168.0.1 if u want to get net access on it.

OK and you have shared a folder on each so you
can get into either PC??? through that folder?

I am seeing exactly the same sort of thing. In addition to not being able to file share, I am having problems trying to remote desktop to the machine that is unable to file share. This all used to work. Don't know if a recent service pack changed something or what. It is very frustrating. I can do just about anything from my PC but try to contact my PC from another computer and It is not responding. Ping does not work, remote desktop does not work, and file sharing does not work.

I have no firewall running, File Sharing is installed and enabled, I have uninstalled/installed various things thinking something might get reset.

Anyone find a solution to this problem? I am close to re-installing windows from scratch. Obviously would like to avoid this.

hi
I have exactly the same problem.
i have a network of three, win98, me and xphome. connected to a router, the
98 and me share without problems, but the xp wont connect. i get the
""home"(my local networks name) is not accessible, you might not have
permission...."
but my internet connection is fine.
also i dont have the checkbox "simple file sharing"

HI
Has anyone got the solution for this, I have just got the same problem,
I can access the lap top via the lan but not the desk top from the lap top,
I get the messages as described .

HI again
As soon as I sent the last mesage I read part of a micrsoft piece (cannot
remember the number) but it stated that the firewall will stop access , sure
enough when I switched it off all was well again. I now rely on the router
firewall
