Hello - I am setting up a 3 computer network. All Windows XP. One computer
is able to view all 3 on the network. The other 2 get the error message
"<Network> is not accesible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions. The network path was not found." I have gone
through and created a new home or small office network 3x on each of the 2
computers that are not working. I have triple checked the name of the
network, and all 3 computers match. Again, 2 computers are not able to
connect - while the one is able to "see" all 3. I do not know how to change
permissions - so all are default.

There are a couple of issues.

First, many firewalls will by default prevent you from communicating to
local computers. Be sure that the firewalls do permit local traffic.
That may very well be all you need to do.

Second, you aren't supposed to have to do this, but I have found that
sometimes I am magically able to see other local computers only after
installing the IPX/SPX protocol to the network adapter.

Try the firewall first. A quick way to check is to disconnect the router
from the Internet connection (this is just for safety) and then turn the
firewalls off and rescan the network. If you can now see the other local
computers, that's where the problem is. Turn the firewalls back on, adjust
the settings, and reconnect the router.

Thank you very much Patrick - the firewall was the problem... well, most of
it. Now that all 3 computers can "see" eachother... the 2 that are not
directly hooked up to the printer, when trying to print - the status of the
printer is "Unable to connect" and when you try to print, it gives the error:
"The RPC server is unavailable"
