Jim

I have several WindowsXP SP1 computers that are exhibiting the same
problems. After hours of being connected onto an IP network the computer
suddenly loses it's connection. I can't ping I can't renew the IP address
from the DHCP server. Nothing. I restart and it works again for a while.
I removed all the spyware I can find. I still have the same problem. Many
other computers on the same network are working fine. Does anyone have any
ideas?

Thanks.

it could be the hardware issue. check the nic and switch settings.

These computers are in different buildings so they are connected to
different switches. I have also moved one of the computers to another
building and the problem moved with the computer.

The fact that the problem is showing up on multiple computers makes me think
it would be a coincidence if all 3 nics are bad.

At least that is my thoughts.

Jim,

are the 3 nics all of the same type? One possible cause among
several is that you have power saving enabled on these nics, and
they aren't designed very well and don't recognize serious
traffic. (Perhaps they were too cheap :-)

The setting enables the operating system to switch the nic off
to save power.
