XP M.E. Settings Transfer Wizard refuses XP backup

My neighbour's new Gateway computer runs Windows XP Media Edition. His old
Dell computer runs Windows XP, probably Home but not sure. I backed up each
of the three users on the old computer, using Files and Setting Transfer
Wizard (FAST), to a USB drive.

However FAST on the new computer refuses to read the FAST packages created
by the old computer, because they were created with an older edition of FAST.
(Wouldn't this OFTEN be the case?!)

Where/how can I get an edition of FAST that I can run on the old computer to
create packages which the new computer will read? The operating system disk
which came with the Gateway computer does not contain the folders described
in MS online help as the location of FAST. It also does not contain a file
called FASTWIZ.EXE.

Thanks for any assistance.

Use ANY Windows XP installation CD... Home, Pro, Media Center Edition,
whatever (doubt x64 would work - but - who knows.. hah)
Utilize the CD (insert it and it should auto-run, if not, open it) and I
think it is under "Other Tools" - Files and Settings Transfer Wizard...

Use that on the old computer... And then use that on the new computer...

That way - you are using the same version on both computers.

Create a Wizard Disk on the new computer (a USB memory stick will
work) and use that to run FASTW on old computer.

Good luck
