xp loop

I installed xp home upgrade about 2 months ago and it
worked fine. The other day it wouldn't boot but kept
trying to reinstall but failed when it recognized printer
config and a list of error messages too numerous to
mention. I tried the boot disks but it failed on disk #3
saying the file acpi.sys is corrupted. I wouldn't mind
restoring Win 98 at this point so I have a computer to use
at home. Can anyone help?

Most likely disk #3 was faulty, redo the boot disks with other floppy disks.
