XP logs me out automatically

When logging on to XP my settings appear to load; then XP
says, saving settings and logging off and brings me back
to the Welcome screen. This even happens when logging on
as the Administrator and I have the password.

Any assistance would be welcome.

If you can get into Safe Mode, try running a virus scan from there. Boot
the system, start tapping F8, when the menu appears, select Safe Mode and
press enter. Decline the option to go to System Restore, once at the Safe
Mode desktop, run a virus scan. If you can get to Safe Mode and the virus
can doesn't find anything, then try using System Restore to take you back to
a time prior to when this began. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System
Tools\System Restore.
