Windows XP Professional Startup/LogOn Problem

When I attempt to startup and log on to XP Professional normally by selecting
my username, etc., it appears to log me on, but almost immediately logs me
off. I attempted to startup in Safe Mode, however, whenever I do this it
brings me back to the normal log on screen; from there, I log on, but again
it immediately logs me off. Any ideas? Likely a malicious virus, but any
suggestions on how I may be able to get around this and do a scan? Any other
suggestions? HELP!

I had the same problem on march16,2009 and I loaded norton 360(too late). I
still cant get into my other computer. Did you solve your problem and how do
you save the data before reloading xp if you did.
