XP login problem

Hi all, I have a problem attempting to logon to a XP professional PC.
All the users I tryed, even local administrator, return me the following
message:_
The system could not logon you on due to the following error:
The parameter is incorrect
It I write down an incorrect password, PC gives message for incorrect
password, so psw is correctly recognized..........
Can You help me ?

attempt to login through safemode.. then try to do a system restore to
before when this happened.
 
Hi, just to say that there was no way to recover situation and I hadn't a
backup.
I solved performing a XP recover installation.
