I would like to know how to setup a login
system in XP similar to the one used in windows 98. By
that i mean the user id and password is retrieved from the
server.
Currently our server uses Window NT 4 with a few
workstations operated by XP and in order for them to logon
to the server they would have to go into my computer then
double click the previously mapped drive and after that a
window would appear asking for the userid and password. I
need to get a login window that would allow me to connect
to the network straight after the machine as finished
booting up.

Thank you

if you setup the xp's login "name" as a user on nt40 ,when user logs in the
nt40 will verify password and allow use of shared resources...

Hello, Khai -

I think the first thing I'd check is whether the XP
machines are running XP Home or XP Professional - the
computers will need to be running XP Professional to
participate as part of a Windows NT domain.

Once they're all on XP Professional all you'll need to do
is have a domain admin create accounts for the machines
themselves - once the machine accounts are created your
users should be able to log on and have login scripts run
just like they did before.

Hope this helps -
