matt

i recently downloaded tweak UI for XP and i accidentally
removed the user logon for the xp welcome screen. is there
any way i can get this back so i can log on or bypass this
screen to get to my desktop???

Matt,

To replace the user, go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

Add the username and set the value to 1 will cause that user, to show up on
the Welcome screen.

Or use this edit:

Hide User or Add User to the Welcome Screen (Line 22)

To Auto-Logon:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Hi Matt,

Have you tried to boot into the Admin account to take care of this?

Press Control/Alt/Delete Twice for Pro and Boot into safe mode and login for
Home.

Good luck!

Either TweakUI and on the logon page, uncheck the 'Logon Automatically';
or in a Start - Run run the line
control userpasswords2
and check the box 'Users must give a Username'

And BTW, I forgot to mention that you can prevent the autologon on a
specific occasion by holding down Shift until the logon screen appears
