It seems more and more like you are trolling.
You clearly proved Bruce's point.
You easily afforded an OS with the low cost computer.
The OS may have been free, and that is certainly cheap by most standards.

You said"
"You can buy a cheap computer for $300 or less, but Windows Oses cost more
than that with the release of Vista."
Only true with Vista Ultimate full.
The other three versions as well as all 4 upgrades are under the "$300" you
refer.
Then of course that ignores OEM which is cheaper still.

You now demonstrate you know little to nothing of Vista pricing.
Earlier you demonstrated a similar lack of understanding the EULA.
What are you going to demonstrate lack of knowledge next?

First an insult.

Not true.

Only in the USA. In Europe, MS assumes, incorrectly, that one dollar
equals one pound or one euro, plus we have to pay a 16 to 17% VAT.
Then of course that ignores OEM which is cheaper still.

Vista will have a generic OEM version?
You now demonstrate you know little to nothing of Vista pricing.

No, you have.
Earlier you demonstrated a similar lack of understanding the EULA.

When are you going to stop insulting people in a supercilious way?

It's not just MS that assumes that - buy ANYTHING that is made in USA in
UK and you will pay the equivalent US$ in £......rip-off Britain strikes
again....

Not always. It can be even worse. Here, Levis go for 110 euros. They go
for 20 dollars in the USA.

"First an insult."
Read the thread instead of just a few posts from people you disagree.

"MS assumes..."
Interesting how you single out Microsoft on this while it seems this almost
the norm for many US goods.
Perhaps there is something beyond Microsoft on this since it is far more
widespread.,
But then it does not fit the MS critics to see the whole picture.

"Vista will have a generic OEM version?"
I never said that.
But Vista on new computers will be OEM and that is cheaper that way.
But you knew that also.
I suspect there will be generic OEM, but I have not heard either way.
Microsoft eliminating them would stop a lot of misinformation and abuse.
But you need to ask Microsoft for if and why.

Only if your definition of trolling is me saying things you don't want
to hear.
You clearly proved Bruce's point.

No I didn't. He can't even prove his own point, and you are not helping
him either (even though you may be trying to).

I didn't purchase a low cost computer, I purchased a server. Stop
making assumptions, it does not reflect well on you whe you do.
The OS may have been free, and that is certainly cheap by most standards.

Correct. The OS was linux, not windows. My point is that just because
someone can't afford the exorbitant prices for Windows, it does not mean
that they can't afford the computer.

But still true. Also for Windows Vista Business Edition:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/editions/business.mspx
"Suggested retail price for full package product, $299.00 USD."

What makes you think that the total price will not exceed $300 after tax?

LOL, who knows little to nothing?

LOL, full and complete denial. You won't even carry on a discussion
like a normal human being.

How am I "not reading or ignoring" what you wrote when I am actually
bothering to take the time to type responses, answering your replies
inline? You are describing your responses when you say that, not mine.
