XP (KB824146) Patch

I recently down loaded patch XP (KB824146)
Immediately I had problems with XP stalling. It wouldn't
lock up but would stop opeating for serveral minutes.
When I unloaded the patch the probem went away. Has any
one else experienced this problem? Any way to work
around the problem?

Bill,

I have this same patch waiting to be D/L along with 27
others! My computer was purchased 7 days ago! HP tech
told me not to install these updates. I would like to
hear from Microsoft, but was told to contact computer
manufacturer since the software was preinstalled.

I do know on my old computer (bought in 1999) that I
downloaded critical patch for IE (822925). My computer
crashed, resulting in this new purchase. ANY COMMENTS
OUT THERE?
