I am going nut with xp,I have upgraded my xp as told
through upgrades, I have been given games 6 new games for
my computer, all xp compatable, none of the work, it
keeps saying I should upgrade my driver, how if i have
upgraded it already. There is over 600 dollars worth
unusuable games sitting beside me,

Help

have you gone to the Manufacturer's website and actually updated the
particular driver from there?

If you were "given" the 6 games, chances are they are working as intended.
Many "free" game bundles (obtained via peer-to-peer sharing) are simply
pranks to drive you nuts, exactly as you described.

Also some games etc that come with hardware are tied to that hardware so it
you don't have it they won't run.

Have you actually went to the manufactures of your
hardware and updated the drivers for XP not just install
XP from the MS CD. If not give it a try. Or just sit
there a bitch whatever works for you.

You say that Windows XP is crap : not very friendly !
Have you ever thought that maybe your games might be the culprit ?
If Windows XP is crap, then why don't you go back to DOS ?

Whats the exact error message you're getting and what driver is it
referencing? Are the games retail copies or bundles that came with your
hardware? What kind of hardware are you using?

I beg to differ that XP is crap....but I wont go there <G>

until a few days ago i would have said xp is not crap
its the best os microsoft have ever made
however i recently installed linux on another pc i own
and now im afraid i have to agree
xp is crap

"The other day"..... do you think you have given it enough time for this
comparison?

XP is terrific.
Linux is terrific.

Neither are a basis for a religion.

However, we're spoiled for choice, now, aren't we?

Cheers.

the other day was not literal
its actually been a few weeks now
didnt realise i needed to be so specific ;)

the point i was making was that until i installed linux
i really thought XP was the bees knees having previously
only used 95,98,98se,ME,win2k.BeOS 5

this is the first time i have tried a alternative to MS system
( I dont count BeOS 5 cos it aint quite the same league altho
it is nice but limited)

I have been won over simply becuase linux just works
It installs itself on the network automatically, is way more secure
a doddle to administrate and its free.

I advise anyone to have a go with it and see.If you prefer windows
thats great but at least you will have something to compare it too.

Wow! Your post looked like poetry.

I tried Linux, and for word-processing or web browsing it's as good as it
gets. What kept me from adopting it fully was command-line CDR burning
programs, lack of scanner support, and rather tricky printing. Maybe these
things have improved. ( Yeah, yeah, I know someone has it all working
perfectly. I don't want to spend hours and hours when it all works fine in
XP today.)

Still, always good to have an alternative. The network installation is a
great idea.
