XP installation

I installed XP on my daughter's computer as an upgrade. She can't get into AOL. The message is no modem. I called AOL who says the problem is Dell's. I called Dell who said it was a driver problem and they would send a driver to me on my home computer. Dell didn't do it. Does anyone know what this driver is and how can she get hooked up again to AOL

There was also a problem with PCI Simple Communication Controllers. The software offered to go online and get the driver but of course that isn't possible right now
