I;m installing XP on my laptop. I wanted to wipe out the
hard-drive, delete partitions and install XP as the only
operating system.

At the beginning of the installation process, you are
encouraged to download additional/updated installation
files from the internet. I did and these files were
downloaded to my hard drive.

Now I cannot delete the partition and/or wipe out the
drive so I can have XP and only XP as the operating
system. The install process advises that the files I
downloaded are requried for installation and won't let me
delete them.

How do I wipe out the hard drive and start over?

Thanks!

Doug

Thanks for the help. I do have a floppy but don't know
where to look for the files that got downloaded. Have any
clue where they would be?
