XP Install - Mystery password setup

I had some problems when upgrading from Win98 SE to XP Home Edition. After a
long and painful process, I figured out that my network card was the problem.
I uninstalled that, and did a clean install on a new (clean) hard drive.
During the install it asked me to set up user accounts. I put in my name and
then my daughter's name. It then rebooted and asked for a password. I
didn't set one up!!! I read online to run the type setuplog.??? (don't
remember the extension right now - I have slept since then) to find the
password the setup temporarily assigned, but it was not there. The error I
get is "cannot connect to domain". Can anyone help with this?

Boot into Safe mode and reset the passwords and ensure the computer is a
Workgroup member or reinstall from scratch.

Jetro,

Thanks for your response. However, I couldn't boot into the safe mode
either. I finally gave up and completely reinstalled and it worked that time.
