XP Install Freezes

Hi,

I am trying to install Windows XP SP2 on a new computer. It gets as far as
the "Welcome to Setup." screen (where optoins are ENTER to set up, R to
recover, or F3 to quit) and then freezes. None of the above keys work..
actually no keys work from here, not even control alt delete.

The motherboard is A8N32-SLI Deluxe model. The Hard drive is Western
Digital Caviar SATA 3.0 (SATA II). The Motherboard BIOS recognizes the drive
accurately (as IDE Primary Master 3).

I have the SATA Driver provided by ASUS on a floppy disk, I hit F6 during
install and use the driver: Si3132_XP "Silicon Image SiI 3132 SATALink
Controller for Windows XP/Server 2003"

It looks likes everything loads just fine until that point.

What do i even look for next to troubleshoot?

Thanks
Greg

Have you tried to install without using the customer driver? I've found
sometimes Windows XP/Server 2003 have a kernel level driver well capable of
getting your past this type of issue.

Yeah.. wiether or not i instal the driver via f6, it freezes at that point.
i can't even tell if its finding my hard drive or not. i yanked a hard drive
from another computerwith win2k on it and booted from that just fine, so i
assume the motherboard, cpu, and such are fine. al thats suspect i think is
the hard drive (which the bios detects no problem) and perhaps the cd itself.
what else?

thanks
