All Capital Letters... it sucks.

You confuse me with that and your interchanging of Windows XP Professional
and Windows XP Media Center Edition.
Which are you trying to install and WHEN does it ask you for the SP2 CD?
There's timers and everyting going on the screen - so surely you can throw
out some more details..

Like...

I put in my Windows XP Media Center Edition CD, boot from it, start the
install, create my partition, format it using NTFS, it starts the install
and at the XX minutes left mark - its asks for "Exact Error Message"...

Ouch! Please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally, in
mixed case.

What does "duke nunked" mean. Exactly what did you do, and how?

That's clearly impossible, so something is inaccurate in what you're
describing. Please very careful to get all the facts right, then post back.
In particular, answer the question above, and also explain exactly how
you're doing the fresh install of Media Center.

HELLO!!! I MEAN hello. I know this is an old thread, but it irritates me because the original question posted was completely legitimate, the question never addressed and the poor user ended up looking elsewhere for an answer because of a couple of arrogant dorks.

I've seen this issue dozens of times, both when running SFC on and when doing a clean install with Windows XP MCE 2005. You self-appointed IT gurus need to remember that just because someone is describing something you may have never seen before doesn't mean the person asking the question doesn't know what they're talking about - EVEN IF THEY"RE ACCUSTOMED TO WRITING IN ALL CAPS. They're looking for help, not unsolicited advice about netiquette, nor to be made to feel small compared to your oversized brain. Exercise a little humility and get over yourselves.

The solution is to simply cancel the prompt asking for the CD and let it reboot. Setup will continue as normal. When the desktop arrives you can then go ahead and apply updates as needed.

HAVE A GOOD DAY.
