XP Hyperterminal Issue. . .

When changing the stop-bits and parity from anything other than 8 and
None, respectively, in Hyperterminal in WinXP Pro, the stop-bits and
parity revert to the default as soon as I click the dial button. I
have tried this on several different computers and two different modem
types (one was a win modem [Agree Winmodem], the other was not [US
Robotics 56k FAX/Voice Modem]), with the same results. I have also
tried this with Hyperterminal Private Edition from
http://www.hilgraeve.com/. This too has not made a difference. Is
there any way that I can change the stop-bits and parity and get it to
save once I hit dial?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you kindly,

Known problem with Hyperterminal and the PE version. Stop bits and
parity are hard coded - can not be changed. Lots of luck getting
Hilgraeve to respond to anything. Suggest using a different program.

before launching Hyperterm,

try going into Device Manager. PORTS. change the settings there.

Why are you still using such unhandy thing as Hyper Terminal? Recently
I've found an interesting program - Flash Terminal. It is really Hyper
Terminal killer. With Flash Terminal you can chat and exchange files
via modem (including v.90, ISDN, ADSL, GPRS) and null-modem
simultaneously without Internet! You can exchange up to 255 files at
once with unlimited transfer resuming after connection break. Program
includes large amount of nice avatars.
