What happens if for some reason I have to remove XP Professional, and re
install XP Home edition? Will I lose anything, what changes might occur to my
media and programmes? Thanx in advance

Hi gruven,

Yes, you would lose everything that you have not backed up to other media
(zip, floppy, CD, etc.), as you must perform a clean install of XP Home if
you're wanting to install it on a drive/partition on which XP Pro is
currently installed.

She's right. You will lose your data / settings but...
You can use the files and settings transfer wizard to save documents and
settings.

Make sure that you have SP1 installed first (there were some problems with
the files and settings transfer wizard that were corrected with SP1). Startyou're running).

Then:

Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Files and Settings
Transfer Wizard. This also saves Wallpaper that you have on your desktop.

Backup any data that you have onto another partition or external hard drive
or DVD or CD...depending on how much information / data you need to save.

Hope that this helps.

ok, thanxfor that , I have another hard drive installed which I use to keep
media on , If I just back everything up onto there, I should be ok , yeah?

Yeah, run that wizard to that other hard drive and then you'll have to do a
fresh install of windows xp home...format the partition where XP Pro is
installed now. XP Pro offers more security and other features that Home
doesn't are you sure you want to switch back to Home?

Yeah, turns out the pro version is pirated and won't update , but have legal
version of home which i will upgrade from at a later satage.doing it now!
thanx again
