Xp home upgrde hangs at DVD movie player

When attempting to install xp home upgrade or do the compatability test the
system hangs
on "processing system files........ DVD movie player" no dvd drive is in the
computer just a cd-rom. No DVD software is installed.....PLease Help...Thanks

What are you upgrading from?

Rich, I am upgrading from windows 98 se with all the patches and service
packs from all the categories. I have removed all hardware except video card
which I updated the drivers for that from NVIDIA it is a g force card. I have
512 mb of ram upgraded that as well when the upgrade stalled although it had
256 prior to that and still did not install. Thanks Tom
