XP Home update from Win 2000 not possible

You can't do an upgrade install of XP Home on Windows 2K. Win 2K has no
more features than XP Home. Either boot from the XP Home CD -ROM and do a
clean install, or purchase Windows XP Professional.

I have a legal copy of W2K (Build 2195) on my computer.
Recently I bought an Win XP Home update CD. When I start
the setup program I get the message that the current
windows version can t be updated.
Why?
I think it should!

TIA
Oliver

XP Home omits facilities that are standard in Win2000 pro and included
also in XP Pro.. So the only upgrade path from Win2000 is to XP Pro.
To install XP Home you would need to format and clean install using a
Full version CD. A Pro upgrade CD would be about the same price

Greetings --

Did you even read the WinXP Home Upgrade box where it
conspicuously does _not_ list Win2K as a qualifying product? Win2K
can be upgraded only to WinXP Pro.
