Hello,I have WindowsXP Home sp 1a on a single unit, single
user,non-network slow modem connection. Use Kerio Personal
Firewall,AVG antivirus,AdShield and have a Hosts file.Unit used for a
home grown research project, edit movie projects, surf, read
weblogs, daily news, games and online buying.Use online services for
newsgroups and email.
For those that are using and testing SP2.
My question is will SP2 be of use to this setup?
More then yes or no would be appreciated.

Thank You.

There is no yes or no yet. You have to understand that SP2 is still
in Beta trials and nobody knows exactly what the final, released
version will contain.

Greetings --

As you seem to spent a significant amount of time on-line,
Internet Explorer's new pop-up blocking capability alone would
probably make it worth the installation. And, as has already been
pointed out, SP2 focuses heavily upon improving and simplifying
security for the home user. It's Security Center can even warn you
should your 3rd-party antivirus and/or firewall application fails.

I thought I HAD SP2, months ago, when it was "touted" by a spybot
fighting program. I went, I saw, I downloaded...from MS. Still sez SP1
on my XP home install.

Wot's the deal?

Greetings --

WinXP's Service Pack 2 has not yet been released to the public.
It's still undergoing beta testing, and is expected to be released
sometime in the middle of this year. Whatever you installed, it
wasn't SP2. It may have been a "pre-SP2" Hotfix, though.

XP SP2 is not yet out of beta, but it shouldn't be too long until it's
released.
