XP Home SP1 constant reboot after MB and processor upgrade

I am upgrading my MB and processor from an AMD K7 type to an Intel P4. When I
first boot and the system tries to load the OS it reboots, after that I get
the screen saying that the OS did not load and gives me the options for how
to boot. I orignially had SP2 but removed that becasue I had read that some
MBs had a problem with a Intel P4 with C-0 stepping which mine has. I have
tried this with two different MBs a SOYO and an ABIT, both have the most
current BIOS. On the SOYO site one of their FAQs said that if this happens I
need to reload the OS becasue the registry is thinking I have the wrong
processor. If this is true is there some registry hack I can do to get around
it?

If you are trying to boot from the hard drive that has the OS
installation from your previous hardware then you'll need to do a repair
install of the OS. See this link:

Note you will loose all updates / service packs and have to reapply them
depending on what SP level your install disk is at.
