XP-home, recursive reboots after mb change

Briefly, MB died. This is an eMachine with motherboard Intel Seabreeze socket 478 with celeron 2.7 MHz.

Replaced MB and processor with MSI PM8M#-V socket 775 with new celeron. I was able to reuse the single 256MB SDRAM.

Booting never gets to "...Windows did not start successfully.

Safe mode
etc.
etc.
It recursively reboots every 30 seconds.

I selected Safe Mode and the last driver loaded was MUP.SYS
wait a few seconds and reboot.

How do I get me out of this mess?

Zero.
I am actually not a novice.
I have successfully replaced MBs before. Once was on XP Home and it worked.
I thought I could do this.
Why do I feel so dumb now?

Actually brief: in order to perform such a switch (different chipset, etc)
you should really do a repair install with Windows XP.

Yes.

Actually the only one that was needed was the Audio.

That Michael Stevens link is awesome!! Great resource there.

My next project, there is no CD for the eMachine Media Center that needs MB/CPU replaced. Instead, there is a recovery
partition. I sent Michael Stevens a note suggesting that topic be covered.

I will post a separate thread.
