XP Home SP 1 Problem with task bar

I have a problem with the task bar - when I open a program such as excel it
shows it twice in the task bar even though it is only running once. I can't
get rid of this help! It is happening with all programs - almost like there
is a duplicate task area on the bar.

I am running norton av 2004 and spybot and my system is clean. Also using a
wiacom pen partner and therefore the language bar.
