Dear Group,
I'm Having trouble connecting a notebook computer running WIN XP Home to
our office server running WIN SBS 2003. I'm hoping that you can give me
some tips on how to trouble shoot the problem. Allow me to tell you the
story so far.
I installed a Netgear wireless network card on the notebook computer
last week. I followed the installation instructions without incident
and I'm able to connect to the Netgear wireless router. When I check
the router configuration page, I can see the notebook is logged into the
router.
Now when I try to map the network drives on the server, the notebook
says that it cannot find the server. Also when I try to log on to the
Internet through the router, I can't. Any thoughts would be greatly
appreciated.

XP Home cannot join a domain. However, you can use domain resources.
Here is a webpage that explains how:

Kristerpher, the Netgear router serves as the DHCP server. When I log
into the router, the notebook is assigned an IP address. I think the
server is accepting connections. I have 5 workstations all running XP
Pro that are connected wirelessly to the server via the Netgear router.
When I go to the server I see that all five computer are logged in the
server. Each person logs into the workgroup "AGCB" at startup with out
problems.

The page provided by "Malke" is an "excellent" reference on how to
step-by-step configure an XP Home machine to use an Win2k/Win2k3 Server
Domain. If you don't wish to follow it, that's your prerogative, but until
you do away with your conceited attitude, you most likely won't make much
headway.
As was stated, XP Home must be configured properly to use the
"resources" on a Domain, so what - it got an IP address from the DHCP server
(this case a router), hows that going to configure the XP Home Workgroup and
Security to work with the Domain resources. Also, any drive mappings are
not "permanent", they'll have to be reestablished each and every time the
laptop/PC is booted and or disconnected/connected to the domain.
