XP Home new Install...wont boot off HDD

I know there is a simple fix for this during install but I cant seem to
remember/figure it out.

I did a clean install of XP Home on an old machine. I wanted to clean out
the drive so i deleted the existing partition and created a new one then
installed.

The problem is that it appears that when setup formats a new partition it
does not make it a boot drive becuase when i started the PC after the
sucessful install it would not boot from the HDD

I did the install again but didnt see any options to make the new partition
bootable.

Anyway how do I fix this, I can now only boot from the XP install CD

Thanks.

It does this automatically. The fact that it installed
shows that your hdd was booting, since after xp copies the
files from the cd to the hdd it then boots from the hdd.
The only thing I can suggest is to make a bootable floppy.

This is very strange.
When I boot after the install it asks me toput a bootable floppy in???
When I change the boot sequence and remove everything except the HDD It
indicates the the drive is not bootable.

You are saying that thhe XP install should format the HDD as bootable
automatically?
