XP HOME Limited Account access to internet

I am running XP Home and created a limited account for my kids, however, I
cant get IE 7 to connect to the internet. Says I need to be an administrator
to configure the connection. If I make the kids account admin, it connects
fine. Is there something I am missing. I'm not very computer savvy....

More information about how you're connecting to the internet would be
helpful. Dial up? DSL? Cable internet?

I have a Cable internet connection (Cox). Its set up as a local area
connection using my ethernet card. Like I said, if I change the account type
to administrator, everything works fine. Once I change it back to limited,
it wont connect and the connection setup wizard in IE 7 tools says I have to
be an administrator to use it. Thanks for the help!

Do the other features of your ethernet connection work? Can you ping
another machine on your LAN or access file/folder shares?

What message do you get when you try to access the internet via Internet
Explorer on the limited account?

I have also experienced this issue. A friend of mine has XP Media Center on his laptop, and he tried to create a limited account for Internet use. The account creation was successful, however, as stated in the previous posts, IE7 will not display any pages.

The odd thing is, I was able to ping hosts on the net, for example yahoo.com, and browse the computers in the workgroup on the network.

He even tried installing Firefox, and this would not browse either!

I asked him to disable his Mcafee firewall, and this had no effect.

Strange...
