XP home install won't complete - process stops, reboots, stops again

I need help - I am trying to install XP home on a new home built PC. I can start the process from a CD, it goes into setup, copies files and then states it is saving the configuration. But when it reboots it won't continue the install process. I get a light blue screen stating "Setup is restarting......." but then it reboots and starts all over again. On an earlier attempt I got it to install but then when rebooting the XP home splash screen appears and then the screen goes blank and the HD stops. After that is when I tried reinstalling. Any ideas? Thanks for any help anyone can give. Also, the POST runs fine and the components are recoginzed...... Charle

Here is my configuration - MSI K8T Neo ATX motherboard, AMD 64 Athlon bit processor, 1 gig of Corsair RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 XT video card, andMaxtor 160 gig HD
