I'm trying to upgrade from Win98 SE to XP Home on an old Dell laptop. I've
run the XP Upgrade Advisor Tool and am warned that a SCSI device may not be
compatible with XP Home.
I've tried to run the upgrade and when there is about 34 minutes remaining
and it's installing devices the screen goes blank and does nothing else. If I
then reboot the machine (using the power switch) the setup starts again at
about 40 minutes remaining and then fails again when installing devices.
I'm currently in the process of reinstalling Win98SE, maybe remove the SCSI
device and then try again.
Any ideas as to what else I should/could try?
Thanks,
Alex
