Hello,

I've seen this asked a couple of times but never with a response.
Figured it cannot hurt to ask again.

Anyway, on the the issue. I would like to enable my guest account to be
able to dial out to the internet with an already created Internet
connection which is set to allow any user to dial the internet with it.
Currently, every time I try (when logged on as guest) to activate the
connection via "Start >> Connect To >> <ISP DUN>" nothing happens.

Am I missing a basic setting somewhere, or is this just an ability that
the built-in guest account intentionally doesn't have?

OS: Windows XP Home/SP1 with all updates as of 12/30/2003.

The Guest account cannot establish a dial up connection. See www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 32, Left Column, KeepRas Connection (FUS). Use the EXE link. Enable this option with Kelly's small utility, and then you can establish a dial up connection, and use Fast User Switching to switch to the Guest account. The connection will remain active.

Mr. Knox,

Thank you for your reply. At least I know for sure now that it isn't
possible. What kept me thinking that it must be something I was
overlooking was this blurb in the online help:

"The guest account is intended for use by someone who has no user
account on the computer. There is no password for the guest account, so
the user can log on quickly to check e-mail or browse the Internet. ..."

I suppose though that they are probably referring to systems with some
sort of always on connection. Anyhoo, thanks again for your reply. The
fast-user switching isn't really going to work for me since I am not
always here, so I guess I'll just create a limited account for guests.
